Subject: Celebration of the ‘Constitution Day’ on 26th November. 2017- reg.
Sir,
Reference is invited to Secretary, SJ&E’s D.O. letter dated 27.10.2017 on the subject mentioned above. It may kindly be recalled that the ‘Constitution Day’ was celebrated for the first time in 2015, as part of the 125th anniversary events of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The Government has also notified 26lh November as ‘Constitution Day’.
2. It is required that the Preamble to the Constitution be read aloud at a specified time at all Central government offices, its attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies, Central Govt PSUs, institutes. Research Institutions, etc. Competitive activities like debates/essay writing may also be taken up. Central Universities may also arrange special talks on the Constitution.
3. Since 26.11.2017 is a holiday (Sunday), the Preamble could be read on the next working day and also other activities may be taken up as may be appropriate to commemorate the ‘Constitution Day’.

You would be aware, that as part of the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar celebrations, ‘Constitution Day’ was celebrated on 26th November, 2015 for the first time. The Government of India had also decided that the ‘Constitution Day’ would be celebrated every year. A copy of the notification dated 19/11/2015 issued by this Department is enclosed.
2. As part of the celebration, it is requested that ‘Preamble’ to the Constitution (as it exists today) may be read out in all the offices of your Ministry/Department on the 3rd ‘Constitution Day’ i.e. 26th November, 2017.
3. Action taken in this regard may please be intimated.
