South Central Railway receives Two National Energy Conservation Awards for 2017

South Central Railway has received Two National Energy Conservation Awards for the year 2017, presented by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Govt. of India. These awards are in recognition of its achievements in the arena of energy conservation. The Award Ceremony was held today i.e on 14thDecember 2017 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The Two awards are:-

1. “Second Prize” in Office & BPO Buildings (above 10 Lakh kWh/year) sector to Sanchalan Bhavan, Divisional Railway Office, Secunderabad Division.

2. “Certificates of Merit” in Office & BPO Buildings (above 10 Lakh kWh/year) sector to Secunderabad Station Building.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway received the Award for the Office & BPO Buildings category i.e for Sanchalan Bhavan, Secunderabad Divisional Office from Shri R.K.Singh, Hon’ble Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India. Shri Amit Varadan, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division accompanied the General Manager to receive the award. The Certificate of Merit for Secunderabad Station Building was received by Shri A.Koteshwara Rao, Sr.Divisional Electrical Engineer, Secunderabad Division, South Central Railway.

Brief on the background of Awards:-

1. Sanchalan Bhavan Building, Divisional Railway Office, Secunderabad Division:

Sanchalan Bhavan building, received 2nd prize in the Office & BPO Buildings (Above 10 lakh kWh) sector in National Energy conservation Award, has seen savings in electrical energy to the tune of 2.7 Lakh units/annum and savings in terms of an amount of Rs. 8 Lakhs/annum duly adopting various energy policy methods as –

  • Adopting /going for energy efficient and environment friendly equipment –technologies.
  • Promoting and increasing Use of Renewable energy resources.
  • Adopting National Energy Conservation norms and codes in new building constructions as well as in existing buildings.
  • Conducting periodic Energy Auditsand implementing all improvement measures.
  • Creation of awareness on energy conservation amongst all employees.
  • Monitoring and review of energy performances vis-à-vis targets.
  • Sharing and enriching our experiences on energy conservation within our Division, other Divisions and also on other Zones over Indian Railways.
  • Complying with National Energy legislations and other related legislations.

2. Certificate of Merit to Secunderabad Railway Station building:

Secunderabad Station Building, which received Certificate of Merit in the Office & BPO Buildings (Above 10 lakh kWh) sector in National Energy conservation Awards has seen Savings in electrical energy to the tune of 8.2 Lakh units/annum and savings in terms of an amount of Rs. 67 Lakhs/annum duly adopting various energy policy methods as –

  • Adopting /going for energy efficient and environment friendly equipment –technologies.
  • Promoting and increasing Use of Renewable energy resources.
  • Adopting National Energy Conservation norms and codes in new building constructions as well as in existing buildings.
  • Conducting periodic Energy Audits and implementing all improvement measures.
  • Creation of awareness on energy conservation amongst all employees.
  • Monitoring and review of energy performances vis-à-vis targets.
  • Sharing and enriching our experiences on energy conservation within our Division, other Divisions and also on other Zones over Indian Railways.
