MEETING HELD BETWEEN GM/NCR AND COMMISSIONER ALLAHABAD on KUMBH MELA-2019

On 19th April, 2018, a high level meeting was held between GM/NCR Shri M.C.Chauhan and Commissioner Allahabad Division, Dr. Ashish Goel on the subject of organizing of the Kumbh Mela in 2019. In the beginning of the meeting, GM/NCR welcomed all the officers attending the meeting and Commissioner Allahabad thanked NCR for excellent work and coordination in the run up to the Kumbh Mela-2019. After the welcome, a presentation on the preparations for the KumbhMelawas given by ADRM/ALD. It was informed that AGM/NCR has been nominated as the ‘Nodal Officer’ who will coordinate for all the works relating to KumbhMela in Allahabad area. The feasibility of running ‘Shatabdi’ train between Allahabad and Lucknow was discussed. The subject of running special trains for NRIs coming to participate in ‘PravasiBhartiy Divas’ in Varanasi on the 21st, 22nd and 23rd of January 2019, who would also be coming to Allahabad to participate in the Kumbh Mela was also discussed. Works of construction of 9 ROBs in Allahabad and surrounding areas were discussed.

Apart from these ROBs the construction of 6 railway-underpasses in Allahabad area (Number 176, 174, 171, 164, 120, 116) was also discussed. GM/NCR advised that construction of all these works should be expedited and all major works should be completed by October 2018 by all the executing agencies Commissioner Allahabad offered to construct public toilets in stations of Allahabad Area, from the side of state government, an offer that was welcomed by GM/NCR.

Another important issue that was discussed was the development of bus stops- for boarding/alighting of passengers on the city side of Allahabad Junction, Subedarganj, Cheoki, Naini, Prayag, Rambagh, Daraganj and Jhunsi railway stations. Removal of encroachments near the station buildings of Prayag ,PrayagGhat and Daraganj Stations was also discussed. It was decided that the traffic plan of railways would be integrated in the overall plan of crowd management in the Kumbh Mela. It was also decided that branding of KumbhMela would be also done by means of paintings on the walls of the city and that railway walls would also be utilized for the same. The meeting was conducted in a cordial atmosphere.
