RAILWAY SCHOOLS

226. SHRI VENKATESH BABU T.G. :

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of railway schools located in the country, State-wise;
(b) whether the Railways have any proposal to close its schools in the
States of Tamil Nadu and Kerala;
(c) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons therefor; and
(d) the fate of students and faculty who are associated with those schools?

ANSWER

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN )

(a) The state-wise position of Railway schools is as follows:
Uttarakhand (1), Uttar Pradesh (12), Madhya Pradesh (6), Rajasthan (5), Chhattisgarh (6), Assam (10), Bihar (7), Nagaland (1), West Bengal (29), Odisha (1), Karnataka (2), Jharkhand (8), Gujarat (3), Maharashtra (8), Andhra Pradesh (4), Telangana (2), Tamil Nadu (8), Kerala (1).
(b) There is no such proposal, at present.
(c) & (d) Do not arise.
