Railway projects in Goa

Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state :-
(a) the number of new trains announced and started originating from the State of Goa between 2014 and 2017 along with the details thereof;
(b) the number of new railway tracks laid or the work pertaining to them started in Goa during 2014-17 along with the details of their progress; and
(c) the average of budget expenditure on various railway projects undertaken in Goa during 2009-14 and 2014-17?
ANSWER
MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI RAJEN GOHAIN)
(a) Indian Railways do not run train on State-wise basis as rail network straddles across State boundaries. However, 8 pairs of train services have been introduced and 3 pairs of trains services have been extended during 2014-2017 which will serve the stations located in the State of Goa.
(b) One project for doubling of Hospet-Hubballi-Londa-Tinaighat-Vasco-da-Gama rail line falling partly in the State of Goa has been included in the Budget 2010-11. Out of this, Castlerock-Vasco-da-Gama (71 km) falls in Goa area. On Goa portion of this project, works in Kulem-Madgaon section (34 km), preparation of estimate for Castlerock-Kulem section (26.44 km) and land acquisition in other sections have been taken up.
(c) An expenditure of Rs.158.18 crore has been incurred during 2009-2014 and an expenditure of Rs.549.12 crore has been incurred during 2014-2017 for complete project of doubling.
