Indian Railways to organize “Swachhta Hi Sewa” special cleanliness drive from 15th September to 02nd October, 2018

Indian Railways to organize “Swachhta Hi Sewa” special cleanliness drive from 15th September to 02nd October, 2018

Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman, Railway Board stressed upon enhancement of Cleanliness standards at Railway stations and trains with the Swachh Rail – Swachh Bharath program as part of special cleanliness drive “Swachhta Hi Sewa” from 15th September to 02nd October, 2018. He conducted a review meeting with the General Managers of Indian Railways from Railway Board, New Delhi today i.e., 23rd August, 2018. Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, GM, SCR and Principal Heads of Departments participated the meeting through video conference at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad.

Addressing the meeting, Shri Ashwani Lohani advised the General Managers to accord top priority for the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” cleanliness drive to achieve significant improvement in the cleanliness aspect all over Indian Railways. Further, he advised all the Zonal Managers to take up massive tree plantation as eco friendly measure by involving self help groups and non-government organizations etc.

Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager, South Central Railway detailed o­n the action plans of the Zone with regard to “Swachhta Hi Sewa” cleanliness drive. He also stated that South Central Railway has taken up the program of massive tree plantation and around two lakhs of saplings have already been planted over the Zone. The Zone is aiming to take up an ambitious plan for planting 20 lakh saplings during the current year. The Zone has made arrangements to plant 14 lakh saplings with the cooperation of State Governments.

Later, Shri Vinod Kumar Yadav, General Manager conducted a review meeting with Prinicipal Heads of Departments and Divisional Railway Manager of all six divisions. He instructed all the DRMs to make exclusive plans for improving the standards of cleanliness as part of “Swachhta Hi Sewa” cleanliness drive. He directed DRMs to give priority for provision of Divyangjan toilets at all stations. He also held a detailed Division wise review of the station redevelopment program.

Shri John Thomas, Additional General Manager; Shri K.V.Siva Prasad, Principal Chief Engineer; Shri M.G.Sekharam, Principal Chief Commercial Manager; Shri A.A.Phadke, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer; were amongst the officials present.
