Tea and Coffee Price Revision – Indian Railway

Revision in Tariff of Tea/Coffee

Commercial Circular No. 53 of 2018

Sub: Revision in Tariff of Tea/Coffee.

Ref: (i) Board’s Commercial Circular No. 78 of 2012 dated 21/12/2012.
(ii) Board’s Commercial Circular No. 72 of 2012 dated 22/11/2012.
(ii) Board’s Commercial Circular no. 79 of 2017 dated 01/12/2017.
(iii) Board’s Commercial Circular No. 21 of 2018 dated 09/04/2018.

The menu and tariff of standard items notified vide Board’s Commercial Circular No. 78 of 2012 have been examined in Board’s office and accordingly following is advised :-

(i) Tea/Coffee in Pots as prescribed vide S.N.4 & S.N. 5 of CC No. 78 of 2012 shall be excluded/ discontinued from the standard menu.

(ii) Tariff of Tea and Coffee as prescribed vide S.N.2 & S.N. 3 of CC No. 78 of 2012 is revised and fixed at Rs. 10/- each. However, standard tea @ Rs. 5/- as prescribed vide S.N.1 of CC No. 78 of 2012 shall continue to be provided.

(iii) Since the tariff of standard food items fixed and notified earlier vide CC No. 78 of 2012 are inclusive of applicable taxes as per prevailing Central/State Government instructions from time to time i.e. Service Tax on outdoor catering/GST since introduction, the revised tariff of Tea/Coffee vide item no. (ii) above, is also inclusive of GST as per extant instructions vide CC No. 79 of 2017 and CC No. 21 of 2018. Therefore, the Licensee/Service Providers will not collect any amount other than the fixed tariff.

(iv) All other existing instructions shall remain in force.

(v) Railways/IRCTC shall ensure implementation of revised tariff within the framework of existing terms and conditions of contract in vogue. Railways/IRCTC may workout the amount by which the license fee may go up on account of the changes in tariff and adopt suitable means to adjust the license fee on this account and take necessary action accordingly.

Revised rates shall be applicable with immediate effect.

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of the Ministry of Railways.

    Traveling in Ganga Tapti from Chappra to Jabalpur. On board catering service charges are not matching with your prescribed rate give. Tea normal less then 100 ml is Rs 10. when asked for bill tea with tea bag bill is give to me. It’s simply case of cheating with all passengers. Plz intervain and stop this looting by vender. Thanks
