RUNNING OF MEMU (MAINLINE ELECTRIC MULTIPLE UNIT) BETWEEN KSR BENGALURU AND MYSURU on 4 DAYS IN A WEEK
South Western Railway is pleased to announce the extension of KSR Bengaluru City – Ramanagaram – KSR Bengaluru City MEMU services to and from Mysuru. It will run from KSR Bengaluru City on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from Mysuru on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
The inaugural MEMU service will be flagged off at 11:30 hrs on 23.12.2018 (Sunday) at Mysuru Railway Station by Shri Prathap Simha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), Mysuru – Kodagu in the august presence of Shri G.T. Devegowda, Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education & Mysuru District In-Charge, Govt. of Karnataka, Smt Pushpalatha Jagannath, Worshipful Mayor of Mysuru City Corporation, Shri L. Nagendra, Hon’ble Member of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Chamaraja, Shri Marithibbegowda, Hon’ble Members of Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri Sandesh Nagaraju, Hon’ble Members of Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri K.T. Srikantegowda, Hon’ble Members of Karnataka Legislative Council, Shri Dharmasena, Hon’ble Members of Karnataka Legislative Council and Smt. Naima Sultana Nazeer Aahmad, President, Zilla Panchayat, Mysuru.
The extension of the services on 4 days in a week in both directions will thus be providing daily connectivity between the State Capital and Mysuru of yet another train (Train No. 16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru City – Kannur/Karwar tri-weekly express runs ex.KSR Bengaluru City on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and Train No. 16518/16524 Kannur/Karwar – KSR Bengaluru City tri-weekly express runs from Mysuru on Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
The regular MEMU service from KSR Bengaluru will be commencing with effect from 26.12.2018 and from Mysuru service will be commencing from 27.12.2018
The abstract timetable of the MEMU services are as under:
T.No.06575 KSR Bengaluru City – Mysuru MEMU Special will leave KSR Bengaluru at 19:55 hrs and reach Mysuru at 22:50 hrs on every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday & Saturday).
T.No.06576 Mysuru-KSR Bengaluru City MEMU Special will leave Mysuru at 04:45 hrs and reach KSR Bengaluru at 08:30 hrs (Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday)
These trains will have stoppages at Krishnadevaraya Halt, Nayandahalli, Jnanabharathi Halt, Kengeri, Hejjala, Bidadi, Ketohalli Halt, Ramanagaram, Channapattana, Mandya, Pandavapura and Srirangapattana.
The train will have a composition of 12 cars (including 3 motorcars and 9 trailing cars).
The MEMU service can attain speed capacity to of up to 110 KMPH. While the seating capacity in motor coach is 55, the trailer coach has a seating capacity of 80. The capacity for standing passengers is 171 and 241 respectively. As such, the overall capacity of a 12-Car train is over 3500 passengers (sitting+standing). While the MEMU Special on its outward journey from KSR Bengaluru City covers the distance in 2 hrs & 55 minutes, in the return direction from Mysuru, the time taken is 3 hrs & 45 minutes.
These MEMU services will also be helping a large number of daily commuters travelling from Mysuru, Mandya, Maddur and Channapattana to reach the suburban areas of Bengaluru like Nayandahalli, Kengeri and Hejjala. Besides this, MEMU services on 4 days with late evening departure from KSR Bengaluru will provide daily connectivity to Mysuru alongside Train No.16517/16523 KSR Bengaluru City – Kannur/Karwar tri-weekly express.
After diversion of Train No. 16513 Yesvantpur – Mangaluru Central via Shravanbelagola four days in a week there was no connecting train between KSR Bengaluru and Mysuru between 06:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Extension of this train will fill up this slot and be extremely helpful for daily commuters.
