Number of deaths on account of accidents come down by 81%: Railway Ministry
Railway Ministry today said that the number of deaths on account of accidents has come down by 81 per cent in the last five years. The Ministry said the major priority for the Railways has been safety and security of its passenger.
Railway said it is committed to bringing the number of accidental deaths to zero. Releasing a book on the 5-year achievements of Railway in New Delhi, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal said, all unmanned crossings on broad Guage network has been eliminated.
He said, 100 per cent electrification of Broad Gauge Routes is currently underway. Mr Goyal said, promises regarding the up-gradation and strengthening the railway network made in the BJP manifesto has been full-filled.
He said northeast and Jammu and Kashmir has been connected with Railway network which was the part of the manifesto.
