Indian Railway Modes of Ticketing

A) Ticket Booking Office:

Tickets can be bought in cash / cashless through digital payment mode at booking counters provided at all suburban stations. After buying the ticket, journey should be started in one hour.

B) ATVM:

The ATVMs are available at all suburban stations and one can purchase First & Second Class single, return & renew season tickets & Platform tickets for adult & child. Smart Card is used to purchase tickets through ATVM. Smart Card can be purchased at booking offices at any suburban stations and recharged as per requirements. Commuters get 3% extra value on every recharge.

  • Smart Card Cost : Rs.70/- (Rs.50/- refundable deposit & Rs.20/- recharge value)
  • Benefit : 3% extra value on every recharge.
  • Types of Tickets issued : I Class & II Class, Single, Return, Platform Tickets, Renew Season Tickets for Adult & Child
  • Minimum Recharge: Rs.20/-
  • Maximum Recharge : Rs.9500/-
  • Smart Card Cancellation Charges : Rs.30/-
  • Validity: 1 year after last recharge.

C) Mobile Ticketing :

Download mobile app “UTS” on your smartphone (Android/Windows based) and sign up. R-Wallet with zero balance will be created. The Unreserved Railway journey tickets, Season tickets and Platform tickets can be booked by logging in with the mobile number & password. No need to print the ticket. The ticket is delivered on mobile itself. The R-Wallet can be recharged with a minimum amount of Rs. 100/- at any booking windows or through www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in. Commuters get 5% bonus on every recharge.

D) JTBS : Under the JTBS scheme, JTBS have been provided counters outside the station wherein the passengers can purchase unreserved tickets on payment of Rs. 2/- extra per passenger & Rs.5/- extra on season ticket. Presently 44 counters are functional in the Mumbai suburban section.

Tickets can be bought for single journey (one way) or a return journey. A return ticket is valid till midnight of the next day on weekdays and till Monday if purchased on a Friday for undertaking return journey.

TOURIST TICKET :

Tourist Tickets for unlimited travel in Mumbai Suburban section of Western Railway & Central Railway are available at all suburban stations as under:
